On this, my first of many projects with LA Phil, I dove into the role of line producer, also a first. Armed with a tiny budget, a German director with limited English and giant expectations, we somehow managed to score some of the most sought after locations in LA and filmed sixteen musicians in a matter of four days, each at a unique location.

I got to oversee post-production on this rad music video for the Dirty Projectors that was directed by Sean Pecknold with production design by Adi Goodrich. As you can imagine, getting birds to fly in slow motion is not an easy task. But with a little post-production magic (and by a little, I mean lots of roto) we were able to tame these wily creatures of sky and make music video gold.

Aside from designing and writing the winning treatment on this project I was also brought in to help troubleshoot an unplanned VFX shot which required putting shoes on the main character’s feet as she’s jumping through the air. Because doing the hurdles in heels is not as easy as it looks.

This was my introduction to producing 2D animation. Originally intended for digital and social, the network was so happy with these some of them even made it to air.

I managed an in-house team of designers, coders and 3D artists through the process of building, testing and shipping VR configurators to Lexus dealerships and trade shows.

LA Phil asked me to produce and direct a tribute to Frank Gehry for his 90th birthday which was projected inside the hall after a concert he attended. This is a music video I cut using some footage from the shoot featuring several LA Phil musicians performing their own recording of Brahms’ Symphony No. 1.

LA Phil hired me to produce and direct a series of videos promoting the launch of a book celebrating their Centennial Season. With a tiny budget and a lot of grit my team and I were able to make something almost as cool as the book itself.

Out of the Village is the first film I directed. It stars Abraham Attah (Beasts of No Nation), was screened at 70 festivals around the world and won over fifteen awards including three Oscar qualifying festival prizes. I also wrote and produced it. You can watch the full film here.

The Taking of Deborah Logan is a film that I Executive Produced while I was developing and producing projects for Bad Hat Harry Productions. It received rave fan reviews, an award for best direct-to-video horror of the year and has developed quite the cult following. It also launched the career of writer / director Adam Robitel who has since gone on to Paranormal Activity, Insidious and Escape Room.

I was an Associate Producer on this major studio fantasy film starring Nicholas Hoult, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci and Ian McShane. It’s where I cut my teeth in the biz. Jamie Christopher, the first AD (Harry Potter films, Avengers and Star Wars) told me I was the hardest working guy on set. Toby Emmerich, now the Chairman of Warner Bros called me personally to offer me the hard earned credit. Maybe the film didn’t break any box office records but I’ll always be proud of the effort I put into it and the lessons I learned.

I produced and directed a documentary for PBS SoCal about the making of the opera "Sweet Land." The experimental opera recasts the origin story of the United States through the eyes of Native Americans and immigrants. The production was shut down mid-run by the pandemic in March 2020 but we quickly pivoted in order to capture the performance without an audience.
